Prince Tunku Abdulrahman was awarded the prize for his Islamic prominent efforts represented in leading the Malaysian independence movement during the British colony, and founding the Birkim Islamic Society, which played a significant part in 45 promulgating Islam in Southeast Asia and in serving Muslim minorities in that area; in addition, he greatly assisted and protected Muslims in different countries as the first the Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
