Professor David C. Morley was awarded the prize for his great contribution to the field of child health in hot areas and child health care in developing countries, which constitutes the most important priorities of health care programs in the world. He made good efforts in the village of Emesel and Ilicia region in Nigeria, devised scientific and modern methods, and trained his fellow doctors and support groups, which enabled him to establish an effective and logical way to care for children, feasible in the developing countries in which he worked. This resulted in pioneering research being carried out and relied upon in quite a few developing countries, in Africa and India. He was interested in communicating his ideas and the results of his research and studies to his colleagues and students, through publishing and in scientific journals and periodicals, attending conferences, and writing his book Priorities of Child Care in Developing Countries. He was encouraging and producing inexpensive educational aids, and sharing his field experience with his colleagues in the Third World.
