Notes
Nominations
- Only nominations from universities, scientific institutions and research centers are accepted.
- Nominations by individuals or political parties are not accepted.
- Research works for which potential laureates are nominated must be already published, of benefit to mankind, and of recognized enrichment to human knowledge.
- Posthumous nominations are not permitted.
- Nominations of candidates who have previously been awarded the Prize in any of its branches are not permitted.
- Nominating bodies may propose more than one candidate to the Prize, whether from within or outside that body.
Nomination Procedures
- A separate nomination file for each nominee, including the criteria for nomination and a detailed statement of the nominee’s achievements in the theme for which the Prize is awarded.
- A list of nominated works.
- A general information nomination form to be filled by the nominee. The form may be copied in as many duplicates as the number of nominees.
Nomination Procedures
All branch
- A detailed CV for each nominee including information on his/her scientific and practical profile.
- A letter of acceptance to present, in case he/she is awarded the Prize, to present two lectures related to his/her field in two scientific venues.
- A recent, colored, high-resolution, personal photograph.
Islamic Studies & Arabic language and literature
- A copy of each one of the nominated publications (with a maximum of 5
Medicine & Science
- A copy of each one of the nominated papers (with a maximum of 10)
- a copy of the nominated book or book chapter (with a maximum of 5)
- Any nominated book chapter must be accompanied with a copy of that book cover
Prizes
Prizes for each one of the Award’s five branches include:
- A heavily decorated diploma written in Arabic script.
- A 200 gr medal, struck in 24 carat gold.
- SR 750.000 (US$ 200.000) in prize money
Notes
- Nominations are considered only in the light of scientific excellence.
- Nominations that do not meet the conditions required shall not be considered.
- The Prize may be shared by more than one laureate.
- The decision of the prize-awarding committees is final and cannot be appealed.

- All nomination records for a prize are sealed and cannot be sent back to the nominating bodies.
- Nominations commence on September 1st for each year and close on March 31st of next year.
- Laureates will be announced in January, and awarded the prize during a ceremony held in Riyadh at a later date.
