- First awarded in 1979
- To acquire qualification for the Prize, the nominee should haves:
- Rendered an original creative published work on the announced prize topic
- Resulting in obvious scholastic benefits and enrichment of knowledge in the Arabic language and literature
- Met one or more of the prize’s objectives as determined by the respective Selection Committee
- ومُنحت لأول مرة في عام 1979
- يُعد مؤهلًا لنيل جائزة الملك فيصل للغة العربية والأدب كل من:
- قام بدراسة علمية أصيلة في موضوع الجائزة المعلن ونشرها
- قام بدراسة نتج عنها إثراء للغة العربية وآدابها
- حقق هدفاً أو أكثر من أهداف الجائزة؛ وفقاً لتقدير لجنة الاختيار وحكمها
